In a surprise move, Harrison Ford has replaced Bruce Willis in the third edition of the action adventure franchise, Expendables.

The announcement was made by the franchise creator and star, Sylvester Stallone, in a tweet: “WILLIS OUT, HARRISON FORD IN !!!! GREAT NEWS !!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!”

It’s not yet clear what prompted the replacement, but Stallone’s harsh words towards the Die Hard star in another tweet, in which he describes him as “GREEDY AND LAZY…..A SURE FORMULA FOR A CAREER FAILURE.” reveals a crack in the relationship between the veteran action stars.

Ford is currently promoting his new thriller Paranoia, which due to be released later this month.

The previous two Expendables featured an ensemble of veteran action stars from the 80’s and the 90’s, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Wesley Snipes, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris.

The new sequel will also add Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey and Victor Ortiz to the team.  It’s not known yet whether Ford will be taking over Willis’s character, Mr. Church.

Expendables 3 is set for release on August 15, 2014. It will be directed by Australian Patrick Hughes and produced by Millennium Films.
