Asi holds a BSc in Physics, an MSc in Medical Sciences and a PhD in Visual Neuroscience. His research in visual neuroscience has been published in several notable science periodicals.
His work looked at how the retina responds to light, from cone photoreceptors and horizontal cells in the turtle retina to the electroretinogram used in clinical diagnosis. That training still shapes how he watches films: what they do to the eye, to memory and to feeling.
